Upcoming Events

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST AT PT. ISABEL: Coming September 2012 (date TBD)
PIDO is sponsoring the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test, a fun way to see how well trained and socialized your dog is. There are 10 tests that range from "lie down and stay" to "greet a friendly stranger"; a CGC certificate can show potential landlords and others that you're a responsible dog owner who has taken the time and effort to train your pet. Meet at the field north of Mudpuppy's. Fee: $10. PIDO sponsors the CGC test only once a year, so don't miss your chance to have a professional evaluate your dog's skills!

BARKTOBERFEST AT PT. ISABEL: Coming October 2012 (date TBD)
This exciting event always brings out the creativity in dog lovers. We've seen some amazing, unusual, and just plain silly costumes in the past. Bring your camera and join us for a short doggy costume parade, followed by a costume contest featuring great prizes from local businesses such as Alpha Pet Supply and Catahoula Coffee. Meet at the field north of Mudpuppy's. Barktoberfest is free and open to all park visitors. What is your dog going to be for Barktoberfest?

PIDO's popular Halloween event was a huge success in 2010 and 2011. Thanks to Alpha Pet Supply, Catahoula Coffee, Andronico's, The Bark, and Safe Hands Pet Care for donating prizes and goody bags.

PIDO volunteers meet monthly for a general park cleanup. Please check the upper right of every page on our site for the upcoming monthly cleanup date. Pick up some extra poop (raise your poop karma)--every bit helps! We’ll also have cute PIDO sweatshirts, hats, and tote bags for sale at our information table. Meet by the bridge at the east end of the park. If it rains, the tentative new date will be the week following the scheduled date, same time and location. Cleanups are generally held on the third Sunday of the month.

PIDO volunteers meet monthly for a weed pull. Please help us pull weeds so that the East Bay Regional Park District doesn’t use toxic herbicides on the fields where our dogs run. Volunteers will each get a free PIDO tote bag! Bring gloves and weeding tools (no weed whackers); rangers will also have tools to lend out. Meet in front of Mudpuppy’s at the west end of the park. Rain cancels. Weed pulls are generally held on the second Saturday of the month.

PIDO board meetings are held monthly. Please check the upper right of every page on our site for the upcoming meeting date and time. Members are welcome to come and relate any concerns.
