Join Our DYI Cleanup Day Sunday, July 18
After a prolonged absence during the pandemic lockdown, we are thrilled to host our first organized event of 2020-21. Grab your gloves for a self-guided, DIY cleanup day on Sunday, July 18. Follow these simple instructions: As you go around the park, please pick up some extra trash or stray doggie doos. Bring gloves and a trash bag. If you want to join Point Isabel Dog Owners & Fiends or find out more about the park, PIDO volunteers will be near the bridge from 10 to noon on Sunday, July 18. Stop by. And thank you for keeping our shared spaces clean and accessible for everyone.
Isabel Street Closed for Resurfacing June 14-18
The city of Richmond is resurfacing Isabel Street, the main access point to Point Isabel, during the week of June 14. The street will not be accessible to vehicle traffic from Monday, June 14 through Friday, June 18. Sidewalks and trails will remain open and accessible, and the Rydin Road parking lot will be open. As a result of the street closure, Mudpuppy’s has announced its dog washing facility and café at Point Isabel will be closed for the entire week.
Parvo Outbreak — Get Your Dog Vaccinated
Please don't bring un-vaccinated dogs to the park. There have been outbreaks of parvovirus in our area, including in the RV community along Rydin Road. Parvo can be deadly, is highly contagious, spreads through feces, and can be carried around on clothing and the soles of shoes. Paw Fund, which provides spay/neuter and vax for pets of low- and no-income people, has been working with the Rydin community and vaccinated several dogs on Monday. Consult your vet for more info about parvo and whether your dog is protected. Check out Paw Fund for vaccine clinics.
